Melbourne artist Joshua Cocking, currently based in Western Australia, paints detailed works which are an ongoing exploration of the complicated relationship we have with our surroundings. Cocking says of his work; 'My work looks at the various and often complex ways people interact with each other and their immediate environment'. Cocking has won multiple awards including the Cossack Art Prize (2014), the West Kimberley Art Prize (2012), the Shinju Matsuri Art Prize (2011) and won commendation awards in prestigious prizes such as the Paddington Art Prize (2015), The Black Swan Prize for Portraiture (2015), the Hedland Art Prize (2016), and people's choice awards at the Midwest Art Prize (2016). He has also held a residency in Cossack, Western Australia. Cocking is represented by Linton and Kay galleries in Perth.
